Out Of Control Truck Nosedives Down Bank Into Car

A
routine firewood delivery in Newlands ended in disaster on Sunday evening (March
10 2002).
The delivery truck had just finished being
unloaded when it started to roll forward, continued down a 10M bank and ploughed
front first into the roof of a parked car. Newlands volunteer fire service were
quickly on the scene and managed to contain the leaking fuel from the two
vehicles.
The truck only had one occupant at the time, the owners dog, Bosley,
who amazingly managed to avoid injury apart from being shaken up from the whole
incident. The outcome could have been a lot worse as the owner of the parked car
was entering her car at the time. She heard some commotion, stepped back and
watched as her car was spectacularly destroyed by the out of control truck.

Once
the truck was lifted back onto the road, it was still able to drive under it's
own power.
